The Face of a Cat Person
If you're one of those folks who love watching news bloopers, you've probably come across this scene before. Not only is it one of the funniest you'll find on youtube, but it's also one of the cutest—that's if you're a dog person. Apparently, a lovable pet dog managed to take center stage from the Russian newscaster Ilona Linarte during a segment.
In the viral video, Snoopy made his unannounced appearance and disrupted the flow of the program. Linarte looked confused for a moment but kept a calm face since she was still on live TV. Being a cat person, this wasn't one of her favorite moments.
Fatherhood Is a Full-Time Job
It was a strange year in 2020 because of lockdowns. WCBS-TV anchor Lonnie Quinn knows how lucky he was to enjoy his children's company during the many months he was stranded at home. However, like us, he will never forget this tender moment when one of his live forecasts was interrupted by his kids, Lily and Savannah.
While Quinn was working with a green screen from home, Lily and Savannah only saw their dad having fun in the living room and were eager to play with him. It was more than just a TV blooper, it was an unexpected family moment, and we admire how he handled it.
It's Nap Time
There aren't many news bloopers like this one! Famous Fox News host Tucker Carlson fell asleep on a "Fox & Friends" episode in 2013 and was mocked by co-hosts Alisyn Camerota and Mike Jerrick. Both knew they weren't the best co-hosts with the way they handled the situation, but they couldn't help themselves.
In all fairness to Carlson, this nap he had on live television only demonstrates how hard work goes into being a television personality and host. The "Tucker Carlson Tonight" host appears on numerous TV shows and most likely doesn't get an adequate amount of sleep very often.
Bird's Favorite Host
During a 2018 "Zoo Day" segment, anchors Erick Kahnert and Nichelle Medina were interrupted by a wild pink scarlet ibis bird. While they make a great team as anchors, they seem to have completely different takes on how close large birds should be to their heads.
According to reports from a few outlets, Medina's cool response to the bird was more admirable than Kahnert's. In contrast to his female counterpart, the anchor isn't a big fan of birds, so he panicked right away. We don't blame him though. After all, it was too much of a surprise even though it made the segment more entertaining.
Moms Never Get Breaks
We know so much about Leslie Lopez from one of her forecasts for 2021, which was aired on KABC. For one, her husband is definitely not the best babysitter in the world, and she is also the proud mother of one of the cutest toddlers we've seen on TV.
Her 10-month-old son walked up to her while she was live on air, and she didn't expect something like that to happen. But instead of panicking, Lopez kept informing viewers of the weather with professionalism and class. She simply picked up her son while remaining composed. We can't blame the toddler for missing his mommy.
Unwelcome Visitors
In spite of the seriousness of the original broadcast that featured the American political analyst Robert Kelly, the endearing ending of this news blooper makes it one of the most famous news bloopers of all time. After his two young children invaded his home office and disrupted his coverage of North Korean affairs, Kelly couldn't stop apologizing.
The situation ended up being saved by Kelly's wife, even though she was mistaken for the kids' nanny at first. She rushed in to help her husband who wasn't prepared to handle the mishap. Being knowledgeable mostly in politics, handling kids may not be his forte and his video went viral right away.
That's Some Rapid Global Warming!
While Cory McCloskey is an excellent weather anchor at Fox 10 News, we believe he would also do well in the entertainment industry. As his graphics team messed up numbers during one of his Phoenix-area weather broadcasts, he proved to be an excellent improviser while being simultaneously comical.
McCloskey's interpretation of the incorrect numbers made viral news, as he predicted an apocalypse-like calamity in Cave Creek and Wickenburg. Even though it was obvious that the numbers were incorrect, everyone could appreciate his sense of humor with the error. Interestingly, it could also serve as an eye-opener about global warming because it remains a fact that temperatures are rising.
Angles Matter
With the help of social media software such as Skype, political analysts like Al-Jazeera's Majid Asfour were delivering their opinions remotely long before reporters were forced to broadcast behind closed doors. From the footage, everything appears to be respectable and business as usual, but a hilarious truth was revealed later.
In a well-timed photo, Asfour's son revealed to the world that his father didn't even have to put on pants before appearing on television! The man justified his actions by saying it was warm at home, not realizing he was setting a trend that millions of broadcasters working from home now follow.
The Search Is Over!
Since the mid-'80s, Marc Brown has been a news anchor at KABC-TV and was not very well known outside of his hometown. But the Los Angeles native became an international sensation thanks to a now-classic moment from the '90s. The picture above tells much of the story, but don't worry, the news anchor isn't really the suspect in the sketch!
There's a chance you've seen this news blooper. At this moment, a clueless anchor draws attention to a police sketch of a criminal looking just like him. When he read the news that night, he never expected to become the talk of the town. The resemblance, however is uncanny.
The Ripple Effect
Ripple, the beautiful dog in the picture, got into trouble in 2014 when he was on set during the live weather forecast of "Global Edmonton". He caused an uproar all over the internet with his on-air playfulness. As Mike Sobel tried to keep things under control, the furry pet was unable to keep quiet and was playing with him.
It became apparent that Ripple had a playful personality, and it ended up making him an overnight sensation on the Internet, even making headlines on ABC News. Who knows? Perhaps soon, this dog will become a mainstay in the weather forecast! Only thing left to discuss is its salary.
Criminal Rodent Wanted
There are many sensitive subjects that are covered in news programs, including criminal offences. When Channel 3 covered the disappearance of Molly Bish in 2013, the graphics team used a picture of a cute hamster during the coverage. Rodney Stanger, a possible suspect, was identified, but alongside the news was a mugshot of the hamster.
Regarding the case of Bish, nobody knows who committed her brutal murder. Tragically, she was just 16 years old when she first vanished. The hamster has committed a heinous crime if it is indeed responsible for Bish's disappearance. Although it remains a hilarious blooper, the seriousness of the situation cannot be overestimated.
BBC Technical Difficulties Are Not Amusing
News bloopers are funnier when they happen on news stations known for their everyday seriousness. Here's a video that BBC News itself uploaded to YouTube titled "When news goes wrong." The video shows a humorous glitch in "News at 10," much to Hugh Edwards' dismay as he was the anchor for that segment.
Initially, Edwards wasn't amused by the on-air glitch, but it's clear that BBC didn't miss out on the humor. Although the scandal engulfed the British state television station, it never lost its place as one of the most reputable institutions for news reporting. They've since put the 2017 technical difficulty behind them.
An Eye for an Eye
As part of their podcast "Calm Down with Erin and Charissa," Fox Sports stars Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson shared embarrassing memories of high-profile American athletes. But Thompson has had her share of embarrassing moments as well, especially one time that she was hit in the eye with a paper ball while working for SportsNation.
Although Thompson handled the situation well, it remains one of the funniest news bloopers one may have come across. Still, it seems that the embarrassing moment has been quickly forgotten as she now stars in "NFL Thursday Night Football," "Fox & Friends" and "Extra with Billy Bush."
Powerade Ambassador
Those who follow Major League Baseball know Fox Sports reporter Emily Jones. Jones is great at her work and reports from the field. She is known to be close to Texas Rangers baseball players and is just as good as a member of the team. But one day, Jones got too close to the action.
When a teammate approached Jones with a huge jug of Powerade during the interview with the former professional baseball outfielder Josh Hamilton, she ended up drenched in the drink, which was meant for Hamilton. The Fox Sports reporter remained a good sport and saw the funny aspect of what had happened.
Bad Weather for a Wardrobe Malfunction
There was such a big impact after this outfit mishap that even the Daily Star tabloid reported it. Apparently, the outlet called it an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction that made Jacqueline Bennett feel regretful right away. But what is wrong with Jacqueline Bennett's outfit? To put it in simple terms, let's say that the bad part is blurred.
Although Bennett knew it would be cold, she decided not to wear a bra. All of these elements combined to make an instant-viral news blooper that has been talked about since 2010. To top it off, she wore a pretty tight white t-shirt that was see-through.
Hot Girl Summer
The stunning host Nailé López is one of Mexico's most beautiful weather forecasters. Learning about the weather from such a gorgeous woman is wonderful, but could the weather forecaster's outfit be too revealing? In this picture, it's hard to say for sure. Ordinarily, there shouldn't be anything wrong with wearing shorts.
However, a heated online debate erupted over López's tight shorts that continue to this day. Many viewers believed her lower body was exposed in the now-viral brown shorts, while others defended her right to dress as she pleases. Irrespective of what anyone's stand is on the matter, López became a celebrity overnight!
The Invisible Woman
Unlike the last anchor blooper, this meteorologist did not wear anything revealing. After nearly a decade on KTLA 5 Weekend Morning News, Liberte Chan left the station in February 2021. But we doubt anyone would forget about how her dress blended into the green screen, creating a huge fashion faux pas.
Due to this, she appeared to have become invisible! One of her colleagues kindly allowed her to borrow his blazer before she became completely see-through. Chan hopefully learned her lesson not to wear anything that makes people think she is wearing the Invisibility Cloak from the hit "Harry Potter" franchise based on the books by J.K. Rowling.
At Least the News Made a Splash!
It is likely that BBC reporter Mike Bushell had thought about the possibility of being a little wet when he interviewed some Commonwealth Games swimmers near a swimming pool. Being a live transmission, he ought to have been careful not to fall into the water. But sometimes, though, the worst things still happen even after being so attentive.
Bushell ended up becoming a viral act after tripping and falling in the pool. He even ended up destroying one of BBC's microphones despite the fact that a major rule for poolside live broadcasts is to not fall into the water. His desperate reaction was telling, and even the swimmers were surprised.
Guest Reporter
Apparently, photobombing is not a new concept and has been around since the '70s, even before the Internet. Although it is believed to have originated in more random real-life situations, it has always been associated with live news coverage. True to this age-old trend, a discreet passerby photobombed Wendy Burch in 2015, but then ran away when she discovered him.
There is no information on the identity of this man, but it appears that his photobombing skills are top-notch! Burch was caught off guard so she screamed at first, but she saw the hilarity in it after the man ran off.
A Beautiful Weather To Get Lucky
The weather forecast presented on the television station Televisa Monterrey is undoubtedly a national hit, but the weather content isn't really the main draw. Yanet Garcia is not only one of the most gorgeous forecasters in the country, but she has close to 15 million Instagram followers as well.
As part of a joke during one of her unforgettable weather forecasts, Garcia's coworkers chose Daft Punk's hit song "Get Lucky" to play as her exit music. This was obviously in light of her tight-fitting outfit on the show. In spite of this, the Mexican bombshell blew a steamy kiss to the camera and didn't seem to take it personally.
Shimmering Dresses Go Best With Cardigans
It was reported that Liberte Chan had been called out for her outfit choices on multiple occasions. Another instance was when she received a cardigan in the middle of a report in 2016. When she asked her colleague what the topper was for on air, the producer replied that they had received comments about her clothing.
There were some who thought Chan's black shimmering dress was not appropriate for the weather forecast. Chan wasn't offended by the comments and even apologized for offending some viewers. But as a result of this, social media users began to argue that a man would not be treated in the same way.
Break a Leg, Kimberly!
Several studies have shown that men prefer women with longer legs, and that may offer some explanation as to why Kimberly Guilfoyle is so popular with viewers. It appears that her controversial statements are not all that make her stand out on air. The conservative Californian seems to also get some controversial talks going with her legs!
Many Reddit users praised Guilfoyle's stunning long legs in a few posts, and they were predominantly men of course. We suppose enlisting a gorgeous woman as a news anchor is always a good way to get more viewers to tune in and watch the news.
Fashion Fail
A neutral, skin-like color is not ideal for TV transmission, just as wearing green is not the best choice in front of a green screen. It's no secret Belinda Russell is one of Australia's best-known newsreaders and weather forecasters on "Nine News Sydney" and "Weekend Today." So you can imagine the number of people who witnessed her blooper moment.
Russell's outfit might have received a pass if she had toned it down a bit. Instead, the old Aussie chose to wear beige from head to toe. In the end, viewers thought they were seeing an unclothed woman when they turned on their TVs.
There Are Things You Keep to Yourself
A news blooper is more than just an accident on the set or a TV host dozing off on his show. In 2014, after she argued that some young women shouldn't vote during one episode of "The Five," Kimberly Guilfoyle faced widespread public criticism.
Fox News viewers were not particularly pleased with her demeaning remarks, which offended a whole generation of women. She dared to tell young American women not to worry about voting and focus on their Tinder profiles instead. Guilfoyle's harsh remarks were bad enough in themselves, but referencing the dating app Tinder made it even more condescending.
Unexpected Smooch
With hits like "Candy Shop" and "Can't Help Myself (I'm Hood)," 50 Cent was on top of the world in the early 2010s. That might help explain why he was bold enough to kiss this Fox News reporter on live television out of nowhere because he felt so confident.
There's no denying that many people won't mind being pecked by a celeb, but that wasn't the case for Erin Andrews. The American sports commentator was minding her own business when 50 Cent decided to surprise her with a kiss. It doesn't take an expert expression reader to know that Andrews's face isn't one of delight but of awkwardness.
Can't Be Held Down
In 2014, Samantha Armytage was featured in outlets such as the Daily Mail because she busted her belt with a sneeze and found it hard to put it back on. She had to learn the hard way that one shouldn't use too tight a belt when hosting a live show like "Sunrise Breakfast."
Despite the help of co-host David Koch, Armytage couldn't get her belt back on even after a commercial break. In the end, it wasn't such a horrible wardrobe malfunction that took place since the morning-show blooper fit perfectly with "Sunrise Breakfast's" easygoing vibe. The scenario even contributed positively to Armytage's on-air image.
Who Knew Bathing Was Newsworthy?
KCRA 3 reporter Melinda Meza knows better than anyone that broadcasting from home was more dangerous than it sounded in that dreadful year of 2020. When she filmed close to her bathroom, Meza did not properly check her surroundings, which led to a glimpse of her husband in the bathroom.
The problem is that at the time of his appearance in the background, Meza's husband was wearing absolutely nothing! He was taking a shower, unaware that his daily routine was being broadcast across the entire Sacramento area. Funny enough, Meza was discussing trendy hairstyles at the time, but the only thing that ended up trending was her husband.
Passing Out on Air
The job of a newscaster is challenging, competitive, and stressful, especially for hosts who work in live transmissions. As an American journalist, Poppy Harlow certainly understands what it takes. As a matter of fact, she had first-hand experience of this on air in 2015 while expecting her first child.
Her transmission was interrupted as she began slurring and fainting on the segment. Thankfully, it was nothing Harlow wasn't resilient enough to handle. She went on to welcome her first child in 2016. Fans were really concerned for her during the incident, but the host is doing great and has returned to "CNN Newsroom" after a much-needed break in 2021.
Shirtless Dad Goes Viral
Remember what happened to countless news reporters in 2020 when they were forced to film from home? Yeah, while it wasn't a good year for meeting new people (or anyone for that matter), it sure did provide some great news bloopers! Jessica Lang and her dad, who would have never expected to go viral, were one of the best ones.
While Lang was filming a piece, her dad decided to go to the kitchen for a drink. In the midst of putting on his t-shirt, the unsuspicious man realized that he had been on camera all the while. That's how Lang's dad became an overnight social media celebrity just by appearing shirtless.
Reporters' Nightmare
We just seem to get the news and never realize just how much live reporters are always stressed. To top it off, there's the unpredictability of when they are reporting from a crowded street like Washington Square. It's no secret that some people act like toddlers when they see a TV crew on the street, you may have even seen some.
Here this man just known as the Washington Square prankster was certainly in a childish mood when he snuck behind a reporter and pulled the reporter's pants down. The poor reporter was left baffled by the incident while trying to prevent his pink boxer briefs from being photographed.
It’s Just a Great Storm, Nothing To Worry About
One of the most famous weather reporters in the United Kingdom was Michael Fish, a British weather forecaster active between 1962 and 2016. While working for BBC Weather, Fish committed one of the worst weather coverage mistakes in the history of the profession. It was so big that it cost some people their lives and others their livelihoods.
As a result of Fish's failure to predict the Great Storm of 1987—one of the most brutal storms in recent decades—the United Kingdom suffered devastating results. Although he apologized later for his mistake, he may never forgive himself for discrediting the storm on air by explicitly saying there was no hurricane coming.
What’s All the Buzz?
Many people have an irrational fear of insects (though we wonder whether the fear can really be called irrational). Considering that this news anchor once screamed while on air and even left the scene due to a cheeky hornet, Fox 59 weather forecaster Jennifer Ketchmark certainly falls into the category.
Ketchmark, who now works for WCPO-TV as a morning meteorologist, thought at first she saw the bug in the studio. But that would've been a massive hornet if it weren't just an image. We guess there's no need to wonder how the weather is anymore. Clearly, it's a buzzy day.
Commercial Break Face
News anchors sometimes do things when they're not on air, so have you ever wondered what they do? While thinking he was not on air, Polish-British weather forecaster Tomasz Schafernaker carried on with his off-air shenanigans only to have been filmed for far longer than he should have.
Unaware he was still being filmed, Schafernaker carried on as he always does before any live broadcast, picking his nose and not smiling because he didn't have to. As a result, viewers could see the real Tomasz Schafernaker in a way he wouldn't have wanted. Ironically, the BBC forecaster wrote a book called "Weather, Camera, Action!"
A Nasty Error
How can we forget the summer of 2011? The WDBJ 7 news bloopers by Holly Pietrzak were becoming a legend at the time. We had never seen anyone make a more crass and hilarious mistake on live television than she did one June morning.
She misread the teleprompter and used an "F" instead of an "L" for the word "Luck." The context was also hilarious since it was included within the sentence, "More teens are having luck." As you can imagine, Pietrzak became viral almost immediately. The "lucky" teens even continue to laugh about this blooper today, although the news anchor apologized for the error.
Not the Best Selfie Pose
As KEYT 13's reporter, John Palminteri covers the news live from the street, sporting his trademark mustache. But the problem with reporting from a crowded public place is you never know who you'll see. We saw an instance where a passerby pulled down a reporter's pants, so anything is possible.
In this case, as Palminteri was doing his job, a young man came out of nowhere, looking either overly excited or slightly intoxicated, and took a selfie with him. As a result, the experienced journalist had to put him in his place. The picture captures the reporter's irritation, but it's not his first rodeo.
