By doing so, your longer hair won’t get caught in the clippers/ After you’ve used the scissors to cut off the long hair, move to the clippers. You can also use a guard if you wish to keep a longer buzz. If you intend to get a cut closer to the scalp, then ditch the guard and go right in with the clippers.
