Recently, a number of monkeypox virus cases have been reported in the US and other countries, where it usually does not spread. But thankfully, a vaccine by the name of Jyenneos shot was approved for the viral disease in 2019. Here is what you need to know about how serious the monkeypox disease is:

You would have some panic-inducing news about the recently spreading virus across US and Britain called the Monkeypox. But thankfully, the reaction of the public to the news has been mild at best, perhaps because they are too exhausted to be ready for another pandemic across the world.

And before you start worrying about another lockdown, be glad to know that there is an FDA approved vaccine developed in 2019 to battle the Monkeypox virus, and it can be safely administered if someone has been exposed to the virus.

Currently,Monkeypox virus is endemic to West and Central Africa. It is limited to animals like rodents,and occasionally causes outbreaks in humans there. But there have been recent cases reported in regions other than the West and Central Africa, but it is usually among people who have traveled to the place of the endemic.

Monkeypox was recently reported in Australia, Spain, Portugal and the UK. In the US, nine cases have been reported up to date. Some of these reported cases are related to travel, while others are not, which demonstrates that the virus has been traveling locally too.

According to CDC, all the cases reported in ther US are among gay and bisesual men, but it doesn’t suggest that they are under greater risk of having Monkeypox.

Experts are also saying that the current spread of Monkeypox is highly unusual, as this seems to be the first instance of person-to-person virus transmission in countries outside of Africa. And though the experts can’t say for sure, there are chances that more cases are likely to emerge.

The symptoms of the Monkeypox virus are similar to that of the Coronavirus, with chills, fever, fatigue and muscle ache and swollen lymph nodes can be seen amongst the patients. Within three days, the body erupts in rashes and raised lesions that first show on the face before they spread to other parts of the body. These symptoms can last anywhere from two to four wheels

The Jynneos shot is an effective vaccine to prevent the monkeypox disease, and can prevent disease and death from the virus.
